Mon 30th
In a single day, blessed by an elephant and blessed by the Indian Ocean. Crowded market-places; overwhelming smells and sounds; every imaginable trinket for sale. Pondicherry was an incredible experience. Ross, our loveable Australian guide, pointed out the subtle workings of the street culture which we newbies so easily overlooked. There was a moment during the day where, possibly for the first time since arriving, I came into it all.
Chalk of white and red smeared on my third eye
The bustling Ganesh temple just passed by
Surrounded by the pious who kneel down and cry
Silent-sitting in Ashram I look to the sky
For a brief, salient moment I remember why
I journeyed so far to go deep inside
India
