Wed night, 25th
Our experience thus far has been somewhat insulated. We are in Tamil Nadu, yet we are removed by being in Auroville and further removed by being in the Living Routes program. But tonight the group recieved its first taste of village culture. It was an experience beyond my simple words, so I will call on Paul Simon to do it justice-
"Man walks down the street...its a street in a strange world...maybe its the third world...maybe its his first time around...doesn't speak the language...he holds no currency....he is a foreign man...he is surrounded by the sounds, sounds...cattle in the marketplace...scatterings and orphanages...he looks around, around...he sees angels in the architecture...spinning in infinity...he says, 'amen, hallelujah'"
Well said Simon.

Best post so far because you quoted Paul Simon. Just kidding, they're all awesome, but it was good to see.
Jus,
You are right that Paul Simon says it well...it gives a vivid picture. If I remember correctly, he spent time in Africa and much of his music is influenced by that experience. In a similar way, I'm sure that your India experiece will influence the way you'll look at things from now on.
Love,
Dad
Justin,
I wanted to let you know that I'm most likely applying to a Living Routes program in Scotland...cool, huh? I was looking around on their website today and their programs sound awesome.
Miss you,
Nikki
Ok, so, apparently Smith doesn't approve of the Living Routes program. Makes sense, huh? They don't find it academically credible. I started to cry right there in the International Study office. I did tell the guy what you do at Hampshire and he said it sounded perfect for you, though, so I don't have too much to be upset about...
