~May I Be the Being I Know I Am~

¡Beunos Dias a todos!
Ha, upside down exclimation marks, where are we?

anyway, both nikki and i have arrived safe and sound in the amazon. and as expected, we have been fully embraced by this town, this family, and this healing. we have undergone two ceremonies so far, both quite powerful and healing. much could be written about these experiences, but not now, as i am still digesting them. as i have suggested before, check out the numerous tales of ayahuasca on erowid.org to get a sense.

a common theme that keeps coming up, is that of purpose. what is our purpose here? this question is usually framed in terms of ´what is my purpose here´, but it quickly and easily flows out beyond this, beyond just this limited me-sense. what is our purpose? for certainly many of us can now see that it is not to ´go forth and multiply´, or to ´tame the birds and beasts´or any other vestige of white-man´s burden. many of us have come to know (often the hard way) that it is not about status or material wealth. even a sense that our purpose is to come together as a species is beginning to wear thin. so i ask, myself foremost, and anyone else that is willing to put this question to themselves, ´what is our purpose now, what are we moving towards?´

when the question is asked, almost inevitably the ego chimes in, and no matter what it answers, i guarentee it involves gain or loss of some sort. ´to gain peace, to lose anger, to gain unity, to lose division´...for this is the way of the ego. concepts of loss and gain, and all the insanity that goes along with it is the arena of the ego.

it is becoming more and more clear that my purpose is to simply bring light, bring the light of awareness to every moment that i experience...to bring this light of being which never grows or diminishes, has nothing to do with the real of loss or gain. in this mission of light, accomplishing tasks or goals within the world of form becomes secondary, becomes the byproduct. the essential, the primary is simply to ´be with´, to be conscious. this is all that is required, deeply honest presence. to be willing to joyfully look at all things, the saint in the temple, the leper in the street, the artistic garden, the trash-strewn field, and see them as they are, in pure consciousness.

in this approach, the ego recoils in terror, anger, sadness, etc., for it senses that it has no place in such a world. we are collectively beginning to see the ego for what it is, beginning to move through it with wisdom and joy. and all that is required is you, is your presence, is your light.

peace be to you,
eka
